A poem I think a lot about lately

Video

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

  1. Thank you for posting this poem in these times of turbulence, where voice is so very important. Hugs and kisses to you Bee, for this very buzz you generated. I will reblog and share, as we together work to protect our freedoms.

  2. It’s sadly true, and I’m a little torn between wanting to act and protect our freedom (not just America is in danger and not only Trump causes it of course) and between wanting to focus on the positive things in life… But those words make me think. Thanks for sharing.
