A blog I do not visit as often as I should :-). I shared this post on my old blog “The Bee Writes…” on Blogger and now it is here :-). Please be so kind to visit and find out more about her deep, funny and always thought provoking posts.

February 2015

Do you know Cheryl Fassett?
No? Well, then you missed one of the most inspiring and motivating people I have ever met.

I can’t exactly remember how we met, but I suspect it was via NaNoWriMo of which she is a dedicated fan. We both took part in 2012 and developed an email relationship that supported us through the tough month of November with day jobs and writing 1600 words a day. What an experience!

But the best experience for me was not to have managed the whole 50 000 words by the end of the month but to have found a new friend who is on a similar journey than me and has bit by bit developed the courage to follow her dream and be a writer.

She writes about this herself:” I have only recently realized how important it is to follow your dreams, no matter how scary it may be to put yourself out there.” (Cheryl Fassett in “About Me” on “Catching Fireflies”)

I love her blog “Catching Fireflies” as her posts always motivate me when I am down, and she makes me think about  my life and my writing. It shows not only her journey to be a published author, but also parts of her life she struggles with and things that keep her creativity going. I think it is a very courageous way of blogging, but it also shows that you can not keep your “writing-self” away from your “real-life-self”. I think we can not be parted in different roles. I believe both influences one another and makes us who we are.

If you are looking for a blog to follow that gives you ideas for writing, motivation for writing and suggestions for interesting and informative blog posts about writing in the depth of the world wide web you must not miss Cheryl Fassett’s blog “Catching Fireflies“!
