Teaser Tuesday ~ Women Who Run With The Wolves

Standard

September 2016

I am re-sharing my posts from “A Spirit of Healing” because I think Pinkola-Este’s words are wise and help us along the way. And if it tempts someone else to read the book I am more than happy.

June 2016

I am coming back to “Women who run with the Wolves” whenever a new development makes itself known. For some time I am wondering about the destructive side of myself. That side that lavishes in my mental health issues and that gets me into problems.

Clarrisa PInkola-Estes gives it a name and a form and shows how this inner force could be retained:

Rather than corrupt her natural beauty, our work is to build for all these beings a wildish countryside wherein the artists among them can make, the lover, love, the healers heal.

But what shall we do with those inner beings who are quite mad and those who carry out destruction without thought?

Women Who Run With The Wolves, Clarissa Pinkola-Estes, Riderbooks Paperback, p 35

I like the idea that Pinkola-Estes does not assume women are all healing, helping and nice. There is a destructive side to us too and she sees the need to be aware of it and contain it.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
